TOPSOIL provides GMA Level 1 Course to Grassroots Clubs

As a sponsor for both the Bedfordshire & Huntingdonshire FA, we teamed up with them to provide grassroots clubs with a GMA Level 1- Winter Pitches Course on 20th April 2023.
GMA Senior Regional Pitch Advisor, Julien Morris, showed groundsmen from the Bedfordshire FA & Hunts FA what is involved in maintaining winter sports pitches including:
- Definition of surface
- Assessment of surface
- Sequence of annual maintenance
- Mowing, scarification, verticutting, harrowing
- Irrigation
- Fertiliser application
- Top dressing
- Aeration and surface drainage
- Brushing and dragmatting
- Rolling
- Seeding
- Line marking: Setting and marking out; marking compounds
- Turf problems: Weeds, pests and diseases
- Safe and effective use of equipment
